St Michael the Archangel
Llanyblodwel
Llanyblodwel
Llanyblodwel, where the River Tanat tumbles from Wales into England, has been a place of worship for over a thousand years, possibly as far back as the fourth century when Britain was still occupied by the Romans. Its current church, St Michael the Archangel, combines Norman and medieval architecture with the singular Gothic vision of a Victorian mind. It is a place for our community to come together. At St. Michael’s we envision a world where everyone feels loved, valued, and accepted whether in worship, in learning or just being amongst friends
Worship in St Michael's is both welcoming and traditional. Although the Parish is currently in vacancy we have continued with a weekly Sunday service with at least one Holy Communion each month. In this we are helped greatly by being part of the Border Benefice allowing the sharing of resources. St Michael's has been a place of worship for over a thousand years, maybe from the time of the Romans. The present church building is Norman in origin and was expanded in the 15th Century. What you see today is very much the product of one man's vision of what a Gothic Church should be. Unique is an overused term but what the Revd. John Parker achieved in Llanyblodwel was, truly, unique. Click on the image above to discover the stories of our past.
For many, the Church is an important, even central feature of the rites of passage that are the way-markers of our lives. If you need more information about baptisms, weddings or a funeral, please click on the image above to scroll through our Life Events page

St Michael's is part of the Border Benefice, a grouping of four churches in the western Marches, where Wales and England meet and bringing together the parishes of Llanyblodwel, Llanymynech, Morton and Trefonen. We are part of the Oswestry Deanery in the Diocese of Lichfield. Click on the picture above to discover more, including a link to our Parish Magazine
